Spring Safety For Cats

The days are getting longer, temperatures are getting warmer and the sun is shining brighter these days! Wow! Feels like spring is in the air!

We want to be able to start enjoying the outdoors! Opening up our windows to let the fresh air in the house… wait a minute… what is that scratching sound… oh my gosh it’s the cat scratching at the screen!

We are not the only ones that feel the change from winter to spring. Fast approaching are all the signs that spring is coming. The chirping of the birds, fresh air and the smell of the outdoors that come with it.

Our cats seem cabin feverish by this time and are very persistent trying to get outside when the door opens. I know mine do. Our curious cats!

Trying to keep your cat indoors is much harder in the spring/summer than the winter of course, due to the weather, so if they do go outside there are a few precautions to keep in mind.

  • Where do you live? Busy street and lots of vehicles?
  • Country? Lots of wild animals in the woods?
  • Do you have a dog?
  • Do you have family/friend dogs that come and visit in your home?

The reasons for these questions help with keeping your cat safe. Taking precautions includes flea prevention, safety for your pet when outside (fenced in yard, leash and harness), proper deworming also to list a few.

We have great additional information available at the clinic and on line to assist with any questions to ensure that our cats have a fun and happy spring! 🙂
