At Baxter Animal Hospital, we’re here for you as you navigate the latest guidelines. Your furry friend’s happiness and health mean everything to us, and we’re ready to make this transition. Just a friendly reminder: sticking to those CDC rules is super important, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back every step of the way.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States. Use the CDC’s Q&A tool (the CDC “DogBot”) to determine what rules apply to your dog.

Tips for Booking Flights with Your Dog and New US Border Control Regulations

Planning on flying out of Ontario with your pet for vacation? Travelling with your furry companion can be an exciting adventure, but it requires careful planning to ensure a smooth journey for both of you. At Baxter Animal Hospital, we understand the importance of keeping your pet safe and comfortable while travelling, which is why we’ve put together these 5 essential tips for booking a flight with your pet.

  1. Choose a Pet-Friendly Airline: Not all airlines are created equal when it comes to pet policies. Research different airlines to find one that offers pet-friendly amenities and has a good track record for pet safety.
  2. Check Size and Weight Restrictions: Airlines have specific size and weight restrictions for pets travelling in-cabin or as cargo. Make sure your pet meets the airline’s requirements to avoid any last-minute surprises.
  3. Invest in a Quality Carrier: A sturdy and comfortable pet carrier is essential for air travel. Make sure the carrier is spacious enough for your pet to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
  4. Label Everything: Clearly label your pet’s carrier with your contact information, including your name, phone number, and destination address. This will ensure your pet can be easily identified in case of an emergency.
  5. Pack Essentials: Don’t forget to pack essentials for your pet, including food, water, medications, toys, and a familiar blanket or bed. Having familiar items will help keep your pet calm during the flight.

Travelling with your pet can be a rewarding experience, and with careful planning and preparation, you can ensure a safe and comfortable journey for both of you.
